God , don't you just love when you have one of those gorgeous days ? ..... Well I adore it ! My day started at 6.30am , I normally like to go to bed at this time , not get out of it !
However I needed to write a fashion article for Suburbia magazine hence copious cups of coffee were consumed .
I was looking forward to hitting the town . I dressed in my uniform black , with my comfy high -wedged trainers cause I was going to scour some of my favorite stores .
I was meeting my lovely new partner in crime Sinead Burke sometimes known as Lady Gaga . I 'm styling an ultra sexy shoot with Miki Barlok for his super cool magazine None .
One of the first things I said to Sinead was " We need a white horse ! " She replied "ok '" ! ... I was impressed , I kid you not , within 20 mins , we had a white horse , yes a live one , on board !
I met the talented Umit Kutleck and oh my god , he proceeded to pull out some absolutely fabulous feathered skirts , red leathers jackets and I went straight to heaven !
Umit asked me shyly if I wanted some of his shoes and I almost jumped out of my chair when I saw what he had to offer .... vertiginous heels with feathers ... Umit , I adore you darling !
Sinead and I did the rounds and soon the day was over and I needed to relax, in my office also known as Cafe Novo ... the best cocktails in town !
Gary Connolly , one of my coolest mates met with me and I felt a sin coming on ..... we chatted and soon the enitre world seem to have landed at our table . Two of my tallest and very beautiful model friends Asheena and Shireen appeared and I though to myself ... I can't mingle tonight ... damn it !
However this was not to be , was'nt I meeting the charming Mister Frank from Bouchon and Emma , for surely he was arriving with some divine jewels that would be detrimental to my shoot ? Yes and then when the time comes to return them , my heart will ache oh so terribly ??? Qui !!!!
Frank has exquisite taste and his store in Malahide will drive you insane simply because one is spoilt for jewel choice when you enter this sparkly kingdom over-flowing with beautiful things !
After many hours discussing our love of fashion , vintage and all things marvellous , I decided to bid all my wonderful friends farewell ...... What a beautiful day ............
Love you all ridiculously darlings
Bisous .

THE ART OF DRESSING AND UNDRESSING MR WORLD
What thrills me more than un-dressing a guy
......... dressing a guy of course !
I continuosly amuse myself by finding ways to
to add a wee bit pf pizazz to our male counterpart's silhouttes .
In all fairness , I could have popped into Dunnes and bought some black sacs for this guy , because kamal looks fabulous at all times . However I decided to give him a complete over haul .
I adore velvet blazers for guys . I picked up a navy one in Harlequin that looked simply divine teamed with a vintage silk scarf and a silk embroidered shirt . I asked Kamal to keep his jeans on ......... for a little while at least !
![]() |
Check out the studded belt from Genius |

Leather and silver bracelet from Genius |
I 'm a big time sucker for jewellry , and I love a man who takes his jewels seriously . Genius in Powerscourt stock some great leather cuffs and bracelets . I piled a generous heap of bracelets on Kamal 's wrist .
A sharp suit is always charming though I do appreciate a certain amount of style contradiction ....
A v-neck basic black tee-shirt is of prime importance in every guy's
wardrobe . Worn with a slick suit , some converse trainers , lashings of Terre D'Hermes ..... et viola ... a rather sexy Monsiuer !!
And boys , brooches or medals are another accesssory you should not be weary of . A sparkly brooch on a lapelle is always rather distinctive .
Jenny Vander , Drury St is my is my store of choice for complete brooch deliriation !
During this shoot I discussed the world of accessories with the lovely Donna McGarry from VSL .
VSL are of course the fine purveyors of the coolest cuffs . In silver or gold , these cuffs have that gladiator charm !
Menswear does nt need to have any boundaries . So whether its donning a bling brooch or a pair of metallic snakeskin shoes .. come on guys , go for it .
I must admit , kamal was very accomadating and did not resist any of my styling whims .
Grazie caro ! X

Gladys me and a wonderful 1920's eventaille |
Does the thought of seeing someone in the same dress at the same party bring you out in a cold sweat ? Do you long to wear gorgeous labels such as Yves Saint Laurent and Chanel however the budget always seems to lack ...... Would your life be more than perfect if you only had more accessories ???
If so you absolutely have to visit some of our fabulous vintage stores and fairs all over the country . Last sunday I paid a visit to the Vintage fair in the Royal Marine Hotel . The sheer glamour and fun was enough to set my fashion pulse racing ....... then I began to prowl through the stands overflowing with glamourous covetable things !
I found true love in the form of a turtle fan complete with black feathers..... fans being my latest fashion trademark when I'm working the party scene . Honestly , I thought I had died and landed in heaven when I stumbled upon Gladys . I felt a strong style bond with this fabulous lady . Alluring lacey dresses , fluffy eventails , headpieces decorated with diamonds and shiny stones ....... I have found another soulmate complete with vintage savoir faire and style substance !
![]() |
Gorgeous Gladys model .. Note the tiny waist ! |
![]() |
Incredible mink coat with fox collar .....I 'm dreaming about it ! |
The better clothing of the past has construction to die for so can you imagine my excited state when I saw Claire , and from under the table she produced a Thierry Mugler dress for me .... oulala , my ultimate hero , he who produced dresses that combined Hollywood retro and futurism , with rounded hips, sharpely accentuated shoulders and a hint of galactial heroine ! Je t'aime Thierry ! Bisous ....
So darlings , if like me , you will not settle for anything less than fabulous , next time you are in the mood for some retail therapy , wiggle along to some of the great vintage stores I adore such as
Dirty fabulous , Jenny Vander and Green With Envy . I'll keep you posted ....................
A massive merci to Donald , my photogragher and chaffeur for the day , and best friend forever ! XXX

Faye Dinsmore's Irish Fashion Awards
Last week , the Mansion House was transformed into a glittering fashion arena . Faye Dinsmore hosted the first Irish Fashion Awards . A first of its kind in Ireland , long overdue ! The event was attended by many of the industry's insiders and I applaud Faye for setting up these awards to celebrate the incredible amount of Irish talent that too often goes over-looked .
Yours truly was voted Ireland's Top Stylist . Hence , the eternal fashion question remained .... What do I wear ?
I had recently met Edel Macbride ... my ultimate crotchet goddess ! She measured me up and soon I was trying on my golden couture ! Edel , I 'm loving your work and look forward to some crochet chats very soon .
My hair was sprayed red and transformed into a Shakespearean garden full of red roses by gorgeous hair stylist Maurice Flynn .
I popped into my favorite spectacle store in Dublin Optilase to discuss my glasses strategy with the lovely Rachel . She immediately suggested the famous gold Sex In The City Mikita frame as my piece de resistance ! And true to Rachel's sharp eye for creative detail , she proposed the coolest red frame to co-ordinate perfectly with my red rose garden .
I was on my way to rockstar status ... I had to collect my vintage red fox jacket from Barnados . I get slated quite a bit for wearing fur .... Live and let live I say ! I won't enter the whole fur debate etc however I tire from people constantly telling me of cruelty to animals . A cow being slaughtered is not a nice sight however it does'nt stop the nation from eating steak ! The squeal of a live lobster plunged into boiling water is not so cute ! I adore fur and I make no apologies .
Annie Gribbon and her fab team looked after our make-up . Forever fabulous ! A massive merci to Annie Lauren and Alanna . Bisous xxxxxxxxxxx
We celebrated the awards till early in the morning . Irish Italian film director Paolo Borza flew in from Rome for the fashion party . ....... Grazie caro xxxx
Gary Connolly , my good friend , bravely escorted me to the Mansion house where we had a style date with Rory Moran and the most stylish Dee Morissey .
A huge thank you to Faye and all her team for bringing the fashionistas of Ireland together and celebrating glamour and style ! And an enormous merci to all who voted for me . Love you ! X

SOMETHING SILLY !
The Girl's Prayer .
Our Cash
Which art on plastic
Hallowed be thy name
Thy Cartier watch
Thy Prada bag
In Harrods
As in Harvey Nick's
Give us each day our Platinum Visa
And forgive us our overdraft
As we forgive those who stop our Mastercard !
And lead us not into Next
And deliver us from Benetton
For thine is the Cartier , the Dior and the Armani
For Chanel No.5
And Eternity.

London ......... Savagely inspiring .
I'm just back from London and wow , wow , wow ....... what a buzz . Of course being fashion week it was hectic , or rather more hectic . My most stylish friend Dee Morrissey told me 14 million people come to this city everyday . And I find myself wondering , is it time to pack my Vuittons and
leave my quaint if not slighlty muted Dublin ?
I had a fabulous few days and hung out with some great Londonians in some delicious establisments such as the Hakkasan . After a long fashion day one of my most gorgeous girlfriends Rachel called and summonsed me for cocktails and serious catch-up to this charming asian bar restaurant . Needles to say , after a rude number of Cosmos , never a great idea on a virtually empty stomach , we headed over to meet another friend Miranda and Co in what I would say is the one of the coolest of london's scottish pubs . I am not usually partial to pubs , however Boisdale of Belgravia a renowned and lively restaurant, bar with live jazz every night managed to charm me immmensely .
We ascended to the rooftop garden , a perfect location for alfresco smoking where we mingled with some of London's most excentric souls .
The only thing to upset my sejour was to be the oysters and scallops ... or was it the copious amount of grape juice combined with fine cocktails that brought my soiree to an abrupt end ??
Classic treats are a must when in London hence afternoon tea in The Ritz was high on my list of priorities followed by a trip to one of my favorite fashion meccas Dover Street Market . DSM I 'm sure you all know is a concept store created by Rei Kawakubo . Rei combines various designers in an atmosphere of beautiful chaos . DSM is home to some of my favorite labels including Lanvin , Alaia , Anne Valerie Hash and Junya Watanabe . I also spotted a gorgeous basic t-shirt label L'agence , who make tees 100% pur l'amour ! Nice ......
And I was delighted to note they have adopted Future Classics , fine purveyors of clever draping and tailouring .
Luckily the fifth floor houses an adorable cafe and if one is lucky , one can savour an americano and contemplate one's future acquisions . Not an easy task !
I almost forgot to mention another of my loves Valextra . This ultra chic brand has been synonymous since 1937 with luxury and sophistication within the circle of cosmopolitan travellers who take their handbags and cases rather seriously . You can now pick it up in DSM .
I had a great chat with Fada , who looks after the fine and costume jewels on the ground floor . He introduced me to Sharon Alouf , who creates incredible jewellry . She is pretty niffty with black diamonds and her contempory jewels of hammered gold with a splash of tribal , gravely seduced me .
Merci Fada for being a mine of fashion information and I look forward to seeing you at the exibition next month .
It was time to go , my heart was racing . too many gorgeous things on offer ...............
Ensuite I popped into John Rocha 's gorgeous store . I was greeted by the charming Patrick , who showed me Zoe 's sweet collection , lots of white tulle and baby dolls .
John's jewellery collection is displayed in Waterford Crystal customised tray ..... amazing !
I fell totally in love with the black crystal room where all the crystal collection is on display .
Then I followed Patrick upstairs to see this season's collection which I can only describe as truly wonderful . Exquisite tailoring in black of course and fine silk blouses with intricate seaming . Crotchet dresses worn over tulle skirts thrilled me to bits . Patrick explained how the crotchet circles are steeped in hot water with sugar to stiffen them . Wow exactly like my mum taught me years ago .
Girls , if you're looking for wedge boots with a peep toe and laces , look no further . In black , cream and the softest of pinks ....... very very awesome ! You may also take a look at THE clutch of the season , big and beautiful , great leather and wooden thingy at the top .
Next stop was Wright & Teague . Exquisite contemporary jewellery and an exceptionally good looking store . I quickly developed a soft spot for their Nuba collection . this collection takes its inspiration from Africa . Beautiful hand forged collars gaiters and armbands in soft hued yellow gold highlighted with red , rubies and tiny beads . Rings with fine engraving drawn from tribal markings , also irresistible.
Certainly worth a visit girls if you need some fine trinkets .
Its late now and I need to rest my tires limbs hence I shall have to leave you in suspense darlings .............

MARIA 'S CATWALK
Give a woman a fabulous dress and she will want for nothing more ..... one of the most influential men in my life told me this once upon a time in Paris . I have never forgotten this .
Two years ago I decided it was time to get back to basics and have a fashion show with my own dresses .
I sourced some fabrics from the attic , lets not forget that I am a horder ... I gathered my girls , booked the Four Seasons , and began to sew some frocks .........
I had almost forgotten how good I felt when it was just me , the sewing machine , the fabrics , a scissors , some lounge music and lots of black coffee.
I am often asked where my inspiration comes from ? It comes from everywhere , life in general . When I enter my creative zone , inspiration simply flows . I cut into fabrics , I drape on the mannequin , I rarely know what the finished piece will look like until its finished .
My fabric loves include lace , soft leather , silks , and tulle . I like a fabric that feels like a second skin , almost as if you are wearing nothing . I also like a woman to wear her dress and not the dress to wear the woman !
I had forgotten the pure joy of working on a show . Dressing the girls , peeping out at the audience and hoping they are going to go crazy when they see your dresses and applaud like crazy !
This show was a roaring success . The girls and I had an amazing time , the show was bizarrely on- time , the audience loved my frocks and the atmosphere was magical .
When I put this collection together , I took a week out of my life , and worked like mad . Yep . I put this together in one week ! Making clothes is very therapeutic , and I love it .
Looking at these images , I am feeling the urge to produce another show . I think I have an idea .....

Showcase - Ireland's Creative Expo .
Showcase is Ireland's arts and crafts exhibition , featuring the best and most gorgeous of Irish , gifts , fashion and interiors . I must admit I had not visited this fair for many years as I assumed it was still "twee"and not directional or a la mode . How far from the truth was I ?????
I was blown away by the talented designers I met . I would love to see the organisers of the Creative Fair inject a dash of fashion into their pr and marketing strategies .
So ...... I headed straight for the Creative Island . It was launched in 2010 to place Irish Craft at the center of Showcase , providing a platform for quality Irish artisans to meet retailers from all over the world in a single contemporary area .
This area reminded me of fashion fairs I would visit in Paris and Milan during my other fashion life .
I was strolling along one of the alleys when I spotted gold crotchet !
Wow , I was in my sparkly element and started immediately ohhing and ahhing to Edel MacBride , the gorgeous designer behind these fabulous creations . We bonded instantly as we have the same fashion values .. she also believes that life is too short for basics ! She wore a silver shawl and matching silver fingerless gloves and as we chatted she knitted ! She concentrates on high end knitting and crochet skills with a uniqueness exclusive to her .
I continued chatting with Edel whilst gold fingerless gloves and gold crotched back warmers kept talking to me !
Edel , I love your work and am so looking forward to the gold creation that you are crotching ! XX
Next on my love list is Yvonne Beale . Yvonne recently contacted me to view her work . She has a love for vintage haute - jewels from Cartier and Boucheron and because these sumptuous jewels are not within most of our price ranges , I now totally adore yvonne for reproducing some of these pieces in crotchet ! Yvonne has a love for the style and elegance of the 1940's . She collects Vogue knitting magazines from this era and she uses recrafted stiches to create hand-crotched jewellery and bags .
Yvonne's black crochet necklace combined with fresh water pearls is simply stunning ! Check this crothcet jewellery collection as soon as possible ladies ! To be treasured as a family heirloom .
I met so many friends at this fair that it was fairly difficult to carry on with work . I bumped into my wonderful friend Gerri Rafferty . I thought she was in NewYork working on her jewels ... Disaster !!! Gerri and I share a love for art and all things beautiful so needless to say , I was only too happy to help her shop for gorgeous things that she did'nt need for her NewYork apartment ! I ❤ you Lady Gerri !
Gerri exclaims at one point in her dramatic drawl " Maria , you must have this !" A delicate white felt hat with diamonds and plume ! So off we went to meet the creator , Wendy Louise . Wendy is a self-taught milliner , she told us her grandparents had a hat factory in the UK .
Stunning collection of hats ! 70% of Wendy's work is to order , mainly for races and weddings . She also makes exquisite turbans which I think every self respecting girl should own at least one !
I was overwhelmed by Christina Brosnan jewellry . I won't get too technical and bore you . However this lady 's collection feaures three-dimensional bead weaving techniques .Cristina's necklaces can be worn as tiaras ! Love them , every princess should have one !
I was attracted to a ultra sultry stand , Clara Bella . Cool hangers , great merchandising , and fabulous clothes ! The cutey behind this new exciting label is Clara Traynor . You dressed me for my debs , she said . I remembered her immediately and was not in the least surprised by this young girl's stamina and talent !
Clara's collection has a strong rock chic feel so obviously I would be immediately inarmoured ! Clara is a hands -on girl . Each garment is made by Clara and then further embellished by her own signature stitching . I spotted some ultra cool black lace legging embellished with black crystals ! ❤ ❤ ❤ ❤ !
This is Clara first collection .. and to think she was due to study medical science ?! She deferred this to do a portfolio course in fashion . As we all know , once the fashion bug attacks , there is no cure !
Love your collection Clara , wishing you all the success you deserve sweetheart ! XX
At this point one could possibly think that I am just another shallow fashionista with eyes for only dresses and tiaras !!! Well you 're mistaken !!! ... Ceramics , pottery , and glass also rock my world !
An abundance of creative designers had their wares on display and I was spoilt rotten for choice .
Now if only I had the interior of an Irish Castle to revamp I would be in my element .......
It could be so fabulous ............ Maria , stop dreaming !!!! ........
Karen Morgan designs and handmakes her range of porcelaine . I adore the pureness of these white vases etc . Some of my favorite pieces included the crumpled aspect of the object , almost as if the porcelaine had melted !!
A tv appearance on Dragon's Den has secured her an investment from the charming Niall O'Farrell to open a shop and studio in Kilkenny . Niall has always had a sharp eye for beautiful things.
I fell upon Susannagh Grogan 's luxurious silk scarfs . In 2009 Susannagh launched her inspiring collection of delicious silk scarfs for women who take their scarfs seriously and appreciate the art of accessorising .
Her love of print and colour experimentation is obvious and she also adores literature . Each scarf carries a quirky inspirational or humorous quote .
My little favorite had to be of course by a man who has a special place in my heart Oscar Wilde . A mix of sultry beige cream and rose , named Vintage Saint . It reads .... Every Saint has a past , and every sinner has a future .
I love your work Susannagh and girls lets not forget ... scarfs are multifunctional and can be worn as tops or skirts . Simply a matter of getting creative !
For all bag lovers , Gucci move over !! I would strongly suggest you take a serious look at Inti Leathers . Catherine Prendegast has been working with fabulous leather for over 25 years . I had to forcibly drag my friend Gerri away from the exquisite purple doctors bag even though I fully understood her dilemma as I had fallen for a gold snakeskin weekend bag !
We walked away ... bag-less ... only to walk into a heavenly scented stand Bog Standard ...... basic luxury from Ireland . Fragranced candles are their signature products that extends to soaps and scented sachets . Each fragrance is inspired by Irish lifestyles and landscapes .
Walking into my room now recalls a hazy summer day with the hum of a distant lawnmower .... and that lovely fresh cut grass scent ! It's all thanks to a scented sachet , Irish Feild ! Love love love !
I met the lovely Yvonne from Bonzie Crotty . They were recently awarded the Top designer in Ireland award and I must admit , they so deserve it .
Yvonne spotted me from the balcony and came to fetch me . Her beautiful tulle collars and hats were on display . Yvonne was quite a vision in her tweed jacket and full lenght skirt with tulle godets on the derriere . A victorian godess darling ! lots of bisous . See you at the awards soiree cherie ! X
I was to meet another of my sweehearts Vivien Walsh . Vivien has always been one step ahead in the fashion world and she now design her gorgeous jewels from her home . However knowing this wonderful creative lady , who knows what she could be conjuring for us ???
Lets keep in touch Vivien honey . xxxxxxxx
I was also delighted to see the charming Mr. Adam King was exibiting his contempory silver and copper jewellery . I love Adam's work , he's a perfectionist and when it comes to packaging ... he is King !! Beautiful wooden boxes he makes all by himself ! Very nice cheri !
Last though certainly not least , I was very impressed by a certain lady Anna Nielsen . Anna sees life as a series of images . In her drawings , her stylised silhoutte people tell a story by their body language .
Her drawings are powerful, but for Anna the real power lies in the combination of Images and Words .
She is inspired by everything around her , especially her family .
She likes to draw Life ... just as it is ! Life is all around us and inspiration is everywhere .
I love this womans mind , so strong and inspirational !
Please take a look at Anna's work , I know that like me you will fall in love with it . All her work is in black and white . A gorgeous addition to ones coffee table would be Serendipity , Anna's new book which contains all her work to date .
Anna , you are a lady and it was wonderful to meet with you . I love Serendipity ! X
Phew , there was so much talent at the crafts fair I could write for ever !!! As I said before , we have some seriously talented designers in Ireland , we need to encourage and support them !!
Slan !........ my gaelige is limited darlings ! X

Makeup forever is one of all time favorite makeup joint ! Life is not worth living without their panstick and 3 in one concealer !
I call into them frequently when my eyelashes require special attention . As we all know , long fluttering eyelashes are no longer a commodity reserved to celebrities and wags.

LA MADONNA
I feel I am being moved gently along in a beautiful direction . Since forever I have collected religious iconography . I have amassed a stunning collection of Madonnas from all over the world . I recall years ago when I was slowly going crazy looking for a name for my new venture . I was in Florence having dinner . Suddenly I stopped all the banter at the table . One of my favorite songs was playing ....the Ave Maria . That was to be the name I had searched for endlessy !
Now I am part of the Sacred Style duo with the lovely Biba Logan . We aim is to create magical images for the world to enjoy. In the past you commissioned a canvas .... now Sacred Style will photogragh and style timeless images for the world .
Together we will work towards a photo exibition entitled " Biblical Times By Sacred Style " . which will take place in december 2011. Seems like forever ... though time flies when you 're having fun !
This Madonna shoot is the first in the biblical theme . We chose the beautiful Sefania Borza as our stunning Madonna . It was Stefania's first shoot ever . I adore this girl . She slipped into her role confidantly , not one nerve apparent !!! Well done gorgeous , you were amazing and I look forward to working with you again very soon . X
We shot on location in a gorgeous building which is home to TWI fabrics. Chris , the boss has the patience of a saint . Thank heaven ! Now I have to tell you about something very strange and amazing that happened . When Biba and I are were looking for a location for the shoot I was adament about locating a celesial blue room for our Madonna . We were under considerable pressure and it did'nt happen . However while I was busy draping Stefania , Biba tells me , " come see what I've found ! "
We ran upstairs and low and behold ..... A celestial blue room !!!!!! Complete with ornate high ceilings and behind the door ...wait for it .... a tiny picture of a madonna ! Thank you God !
This shoot was the beginning of something very special . Biba and I are on a creative journey together and its full steam ahead . Biba darling , I adore the way you capture my vision . Every shoot we do together is my new favorite . I am so happy to have you in my life . X
A massive merci to the adorable Seana Long from Makeup Forever who always says yes when I call last minute to work her magic on my models . She is one of the most talented makeup artists . I love this girl .... Thank you baby . xxxx
And a huge merci to Maurice Flynn who gets me totally when it comes to hair . Maurice you 're a total sweetheart . Thanks honey . xxxx
